Man Held Over O'Byrne Murder

A man has been arrested in Dublin this morning in connection with the shooting of Seamus O'Byrne last March.

Gardai at Tallaght Garda Station investigating the murder of Mr O'Byrne said had arrested a 32-year-old man this morning in the Dublin area.

Seamus O'Byrne, who was 27, was shot three times as he left his home at Tymon Park North on 13 March 2009. His girlfriend was also wounded in the attack.

O'Byrne was believed to be a leading figure amongst south Dublin gangs and his murder was linked to the Crumlin/Drimnagh feud, which has claimed more than a dozen lives.

The man is detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act at Tallaght Garda Station and may be detained for up to 72 hours.
