| | A total of six lucky bands have been selected for the Belfast regional showcase of the Guinness sponsored ‘Our Thursdays’ competition.
The bands, all selected from across Ireland will be playing as part of this year’s 'Arthur’s Day' event, with Our Thursdays taking a look at emerging talent all over Ireland and giving them a chance to be part of the Arthur’s Day line up on September 23rd.
Since July, hopeful bands have been performing in pubs every week all around the country at the Guinness sponsored pub showcases where the public decided, via text vote, who would go through each week.
The bands that received the most votes at the end of each pub showcase have been named as the official Arthur’s Day artist in that bar on 23rd September. More . . . . .

| | Twirling around the stage like a possessed ballerina, Florence Welch and her well oiled machine cast a spell over the crowd at Belsonic, in Belfast's Custom House Square, last night, writes Gilli Kane.
Rain pouring from the heavens failed to dampen the singer's hauntingly beautiful voice as it filled the open space to showcase her impressive vocal range - sounding as good live as it does on her album.
She was the Queen of last night's show, opening with the atmospheric Drumming Song that immediately gripped the audience.
The Flame haired siren is no stranger to the summer festival circuit either, in fact she's played Glastonbury four years in a row and her debut album, Lungs has shifted over four million copies and she's a new fashion icon, so it comes as no surprise that the show sold out in a matter of days. | | Paolo-mania gripped Belfast last night as the Paisley singer-songwriter returned to headline Belsonic - and it was a real 'belter' of a peformance.
Over 5,000 music lovers came out in force to witness bestselling British male artist Paolo Nutini in action at the sold out gig.
The Italian-Scot and his seven-piece band kicked off the performance with 10/10 a lilting reggae tune that got the crowd moving.
The slight 23-year-old, clad in skinny jeans and a tight fitting striped jumper, wouldn't look out of place in an indie band but his music spans the genres of soul, reggae, folk, bluegrass and ragtime.
As Nutini stood contorted over the microphone he belted out chart-topping hits, such as Candy, Coming Up Easy, New Shoes and Pencil Full of Lead, in his trademark gravely voice that belies his age. More . . . . .
