About Atlantic Air Ventilation & Air Tightness

"YOUR COMFORT IS OUR BUSINESS"

Atlantic Air was established in 2007 as an air permeability testing company. In 2009 we expanded our portfolio to offer Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) installation and commissioning services and quickly grew to be one of the main domestic ventilation companies in Northern Ireland.

In the years that followed the company gained further accreditations in Building Acoustics and Energy Assessment. This has enabled us to provide clients with a comprehensive service package that ensures their compliance with Building Regulations. Hence, building performance testing services now accounts for approximately 25% of our annual turnover.

In 2015, following our success in the domestic ventilation market we expanded into commercial/ industrial ventilation and air conditioning, again offering a complete supply, installation, and commissioning package. Over the years we have been involved in a vast array of projects from shops and offices to music theatres and hotels. We work closely with many M&E contractors and consultants to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:
  • Air Tightness Testing
  • Design, Installation & Commissioning of Commercial Ventilation Systems
  • Passive House Consultancy
  • Air Tightness Surveying
  • Sound Insulation Testing
  • Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
  • Design SAP’s & As Built SAP’s
  • Appliance Spillage Tests

AIR TIGHTNESS
Air tightness testing (or air permeability) refers to the infiltration of cold air into a building and the escape of heated out of the building, through the tightness of gaps, holes and cracks etc. in the structural fabric.

WHY SHOULD I BUILD AN AIRTIGHT DWELLING?
Achieving a good level of airtightness is important for the energy efficiency of the dwelling and the comfort of occupants. The benefits of improved insulation levels and energy efficient heating systems will be lost if warm air can leak out of a building and cold air can flow in.

As airtightness improves, the energy needed for heating the building reduces. However, it is neither comfortable nor safe to live in an airtight dwelling without adequate ventilation. Therefore, when constructing an airtight dwelling it is important to also provide controlled ventilation: build tight and ventilate right.

ACOUSTIC TESTING
Atlantic Air provide a comprehensive service in relation to the assessment and testing of building sound insulation performance. As SITMA Registered Testers (UK & NI) and SITRI Registered Testers (ROI) we are competent to undertake pre-completion testing on non-detached houses, apartments, rooms for residential purposes, schools and other buildings.

Our experienced testers collect field measurements in accordance with ISO 140 and ISO 16283 (all parts) as required in order to ensure compliance with current Building Regulations i.e. Technical Booklet G 2012 (UK & NI) and Technical Guidance Document E 2014 (ROI).

We will liaise directly with Building Control and/or the Assigned Certifier in order to establish and agree the required number of tests, so that we can provide a stress-free service and an accurate quotation with no hidden costs.

The images used for ‘Airborne Sound Insulation Testing’ and ‘Impact Sound Insulation Testing’ need to be switched around and made equal in size.

EPC – ENERGY PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATE
An EPC rates the energy efficiency of a dwelling from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient). It will give you some indication of how costly the building will be to heat and light, and what its carbon emissions are likely to be. The EPC will also state what the energy-efficiency rating could be if improvements are made, and highlights cost-effective ways to achieve a better rating. An EPC must be provided to building control before they can issue a final completion certificate.

SAP – Standard Assessment Procedure
Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) is the method used to determine a dwellings energy performance. SAP calculations must be carried out at the design stage prior to the commencement of works on site, and also at the completed “as-built” stage.

DOMESTIC VENTILATION
Our team of skilled engineers have experience in all types of installation, from single unit whole house heat recovery ventilation to large scale commercial air handling units.

We can provide a high quality, energy efficient ventilation system that is tailored specifically to your needs. Based in Co. Tyrone in Northern Ireland, we are able to design, install and commission mechanical ventilation systems with heat recovery all over Ireland.

COMMERCIAL VENTILATION
Every commercial and industrial property needs effective and reliable ventilation. Insufficient fresh air can cause tiredness, fatigue and headaches, which will impact negatively on employee concentration and performance. By installing a high quality mechanical ventilation system you can guarantee a continuous supply of fresh, filtered air throughout your premises, resulting in a healthier more productive working environment.
